Stained Glass Window for the Village Hall

Saturday 21st May 2011

About 50 villagers attended the Coffee Morning held in the Village Hall on Saturday 21st of May 2011 to view the designs for the stained glass window to be installed in the foyer of the Village Hall.
Jackie Hunt outlined the principles behind the design
and presented her sketches of the four stained glass panels.
Her ideas and design sketches were well received by the audience, and are shown in the gallery below.

STAINED GLASS WINDOW

This next gallery is of drawings by the children of the village to illustrate
what they thought represented Long Preston, and ought to be included in the  window.

After giving her presentation Jackie asked for any further comments and suggestions to be added to display panels. There was a general appreciation and enthusiasm for the design, especially how she had used the maypole ribbons to tie together the four window panes, and of how she had depicted the many representations of the village and surrounding area.

The cost of the window is being met by the Heritage Lottery Fund via the Long Preston Heritage Group; the materials will be paid from the Heritage Grant and labour is being donated by those involved.

Jackie invited any that were interested to come to her workshop in a few months time to help with the actual production of the stained glass panels.
